Being more water efficient can provide companies with a competitive advantage
Companies increasingly face local water shortages, rising water prices and decreasing water quality, which threaten their production capacity. Being more water efficient can thus provide companies with a competitive advantage. A first step could be to carry out a water audit in order to map the water footprint throughout the various production processes and identify water streams that can be reclaimed and reused with proper treatment. This should be followed by the implementation of accurate metering and water quality control systems. High water prices in Denmark have forced Danish companies to develop technologies, which have enabled them to reduce their water consumption significantly without compromising product quality.

Energy is an important driver when ensuring a green transition – both in society, but also in the industries and production facilities across the globe. As the world’s resources are becoming increasingly scarce, companies must learn how to produce more from less – not only to limit their environmental footprint and decarbonise, but also to leverage the competitive advantages of improved production efficiency.

Land is already under growing human pressure and climate change is adding to these pressures. At the same time, keeping global warming to well below 2°C can only be achieved by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from all sectors including land and food, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said in its report released on August 8, 2019. Denmark welcomes the report and fully supports the transition to more sustainable land use and food production.

Denmark is considered the leading district heating market when it comes to innovation and practical experience with modern district heating. For this reason recommendations issued by the Danish District Heating Association are typically received with much interest from other countries, in order to learn “Best Practice” based on findings from the close to 400 district […]
A success criteria of good water treatment in district heating systems is optimum technical and economical operation both in the short and in the long run. Likewise, low chemical consumption is a success criteria, since the environment will be the least stressed by leakage of district heating water and at the same time, the risk […]
