Fukushima Looking Towards Denmark for Knowhow about Renewable Energy

The tsunami that hit Japan on March 11 2011 has had a disastrous impact on the Japanese society. Thousands of people were killed, and the nuclear power plant in Fukushima broke down causing massive pollution. Furthermore, the majority of Japan’s nuclear power plants were shut down – a group of plants that delivered 26 % of the country’s energy supply.

Looking towards renewable energy sources

The catastrophe has been the kickoff to a larger transition of the Japanese energy supply – a transition in which renewable energy sources will play an important part.

Governor, Yuhei Sato is visiting Middelgrunden windfarm, placed outside of Copenhagen, before his meeting with the Minister of Climate, Energy and Buildings.
