Charge Your Electric Vehicle along the Danish Highways
The charging stations will be put up by E.ON along the highway stretch between Copenhagen and Aarhus and expected ready by the end of this year. They will be able to charge all common types of EV’s available on the Danish market with plans to extend the charging stations across the Danish landscape.
Minister of Climate, Energy and Building Rasmus Helveg Petersen says:
“It is very good. The new charging stations are a crucial step in the transition of the transporation sector towards electrification. It must be just as easy to drive electric vehicle as is the case for petrol and diesel cars. “

Minister of Transportation Magnus Heunick says:
The new charging stations along the highways are a significant improvement for electric vehicles in Denmark, which until now had to drive off the highways to recharge. The new possibilities to charge the car will hopefully increase usage and attract new buyers. The EV-technology is developing rapidly, and in conjunction with improved charging possibilities, it will make electric vehicles more attractive and increase this sustainable mode of transportation”.
20,000 EV’s on Danish roads by 2020
The new charging stations fall in line with E.ON’s goal of 20,000 electric vehicles on Danish roads by 2020, following the purchase of Better Place. This included the take over of 770 charging stations scattered across the main cities in Denmark, and with the upcoming charging stations along the Danish highways, the electric vehicle infrastructure continues to improve in line with E.ONs e-mobility strategy of “more chargers that charge quicker”:

“Better Place bet on battery swaps but we do not foresee a future for that technology. Instead, we will expand the network of chargers and focus on urban areas, where the electric vehicle holds great benefits,” said CEO of E.ON Denmark Tore Harritshøj in a comment about the strategy.
If the Danish venture is a success, it will set a precedent for roll-out of EV’s in other countries.
