Easy Access to Energy Data for Everyone
"There is a lot of data about the energy sector, both in Denmark and internationally. But it can be difficult to get hold of these data. It is time to change that, said Hanne Storm Edlefsen," Head of Energy Analysis at Energinet.dk.
For a start, Energinet.dk will establish a functional and easily accessible energy data store with a limited number of data sets and functionalities. The ambition is for the beta version to be ready for use in June 2017.
Open invitation to co-production
The aim of the energy data store is to set energy data free. This enables new products and services, creates increased openness and provides the players with data for improved business cases.
"The energy data store will contain the functionalities and data which the players request and want to use. Therefore, we invite everyone with an interest in the project to send us their input," said Hanne Storm Edlefsen and continued:
"But they will also be put to work. We need an active effort from the parties involved in the project in order to ensure the applicability of the energy data store".
Perspectives: Innovation, growth and product development
"Energy data is a fantastic valuable asset, and if made available in the right way, it can both create innovation and growth and support an efficient green transition", said Hanne Storm Edlefsen.
Examples of energy data are production data, consumption data, environmental data, electricity prices, analysis data and master data, but also data from Energinet.dk's own infrastructure. Energinet.dk has initiated the energy data store, because the company has large quantities of data and knowledge of the energy system which due to limited transparency and availability are not considerably used by others.
