Dansk Retursystem was founded in 2000 and from the very beginning had a specific IT project that needed to be launched. The company needed to create an infrastructure solution that could collect payment information from all reverse vending machines in Denmark. The solution was, and still is, completely fundamental to the work carried out by Dansk Retursystem.

Recycling of disposable packaging
Dansk Retursystem is a non-profit company whose object is to collect and recycle reusable packaging in Denmark. This is achieved in close collaboration with Danish consumers, manufacturers and retailers who work together to ensure that almost nine out of ten disposable cans and bottles are recycled.

The right competences and size
In 2000 Dansk Retursystem’s Technical Director, Henrik Als, used his network to identify the right supplier of the infrastructure solution for the collection of payment data, which is how he got in touch with GoApplicate. “From the very beginning, I wanted to find a supplier who had the right skills and experience and who was also the right size for us,” says Henrik Als. “It is important for us to be one of our suppliers’ main customers. Technology and business
Over the years, Henrik Als has found GoApplicate to be a competent business partner who has demonstrated considerable insight into both the technical aspects and the business concept of Dansk Retursystem. “The data we handle in our solution is very sensitive,” says Henrik Als. “It involves refund payments and the handling of systems used to service the consumers and manage equipment in the shops. The system solutions therefore have to be extremely robust to ensure a high degree of uptime, but they must also be capable of handling our demands to neutrality and safety. This can, at times, be a complex task.”

Several other countries have shown considerable interest in the concept behind Dansk Retursystem and the company is very interested in promoting its solution for collection and recycling of disposable packaging. Dansk Retursystem is also an active player in State of Green. Dansk Retursystem has received visitors from abroad on several occasions.
