In 2011, the City of Ikast-Brande adopted an ambitious Wind Turbine Plan.

The Wind Turbine Plan classifies four areas in Ikast-Brande for wind turbines with a height between 100-150 meters.

A fully developed plan will be able to produce approximately 221,700 MWh per year and help to reduce CO2 emissions in the City of Ikast-Brande by 41 % compared to 2007 figures.

The Wind Turbine Plan has identified several areas for installation of test wind turbines. Planning the establishment of the first four test turbines is well underway in collaboration with Uhre Wind Turbine Cooperative and Siemens Wind Power A/S. In addition the City of Ikast-Brande is working to establish further test turbines nearby Ikast.

The City of Ikast-Brande would at any time like to engage in dialogue with companies regarding the establishment of testing facilities.
