NON-PROFIT SOCIAL HOUSING
Public housing is built and operated by social housing organizations with public support and a non-profit value.

The social housing sector had its heyday in the 1960s and 1970s. In that period, about 10,000 new social housing units were constructed each year and they were the largest and best-equipped dwellings at this time.

Today the energy standard increases. The social housing stock swallows a large part of the total energy consumption in Denmark. The response to this problem is to increase the competitiveness by raising social housing standards.

Over the next twenty years, a massive renovation and conversion programme will be implemented to make the housing units in the sector suitable for future use. About a third of the money goes to energy saving measures.

A78 Architects developes solutions to optimize the social housing in Denmark.
