When it finalized construction in 2011, the Primer Tower in Zürich came on the Swiss scene as a sustainability trendsetter. Not only complying with the Minergie standard and receiving the GreenProperty seal of approval, it also achieved LEED Gold status.

Beautiful façade, reliable automation

In close cooperation with Dobler Metallbau GmbH, WindowMaster has developed and implemented an intelligent control system to automate 1,381 parallel opening windows. Weighing about 360kg each, the windows needed to be equipped with window actuators that could provide synchronized opening and closing as well as strength and security. In total, WindowMaster delivered 6,910 chain actuators for the window automation.

Synchronization and communication

All the actuators on the project come with patented digital communication technology from WindowMaster. The communication technology enables position control and feedback between the window actuators, motorcontrollers and building management system. This feature of networkability also allows the actuators to move in synchronization which is important for the aesthetics of the parallel windows of the tower.

Intelligent control of windows: MotorLink®

MotorLink® is a communication technology that enables 2-way control and feedback between window actuators and the Building Management System via the MotorController.

All WindowMaster control systems are MotorLink® capable with many of our actuators. Click below to learn more and see related products.
