The project, which was acquired in September 2014 by the investment firm Highland Group Holdings Ltd, is now owned by a consortium including Highland, Copenhagen Infrastructure II, a fund managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, and Siemens Financial Services.

In 2009 K2 Management also performed a technical due diligence of the Veja Mate Project.

As Lender’s Engineer for Rabo Bank, K2 Management supported with review of technical information, review of selected contractors and contracts, review of project schedule and review of the installation process.

The Veja Mate offshore wind farm will operate 95 km North West from the island of Borkum and will be connected to the power grid via the existing Borwin 2 offshore sub-station managed by TenneT, the grid operator. With a production of roughly 1.6 TWh per year, the offshore wind farm will be amongst the largest in the world.

Since 2013, K2 Management has been supporting the project as owner’s engineer, technical advisor and a reasonable part of the project management team – including the role as Project Director – bringing the Veja Mate to financial close in a very short time. Services provided has included:

  • Wind energy and turbulence assessment
  • Scheduling,
  • FEED study
  • Risk Management
  • Interface Management
  • Project structure development
  • Project organization development
  • Invitation to tender (ITT) structure development
  • ITT Management incl. Employer’s requirements and annexes
  • Tender process management, including bid evaluation and contract negotiations
  • Foundation and substation design process management
  • Cost books management for all specified packages supporting financial advisor

During execution of the Veja Mate offshore project, K2 Management will continue to support the project management team with its expertise and experts.
