In march 2009 E.ON and the municipality of Norrköping announced that they are working together for a sustainable city development in Norrköping. With climate-smart and long-term sustainable infrastructure solutions for power, district heating, district cooling and waste, Norrköping has become a Sustainable City where durability is in focus.

The first step is to make a preliminary study which formed the basis for continued efforts. Allready discussions about developing wind power plants and increasing local biogas productions has started.

Huge investments
E.ON has invested SEK 2.5 billion in energy solutions in Norrköping. The investments includes among other things:

  • a co-generation power plant where waste woodchips, forest fuel, rubber and garbage are transformed into heat, steam and electricity
  • infrastructure solutions for district heating to newbuild areas.
