In smart home and energy management systems, each device often has its own app and gateway, which easily results in complex and confusing solutions for the end-users. To overcome this challenge, the Norwegian energy management and home automation provider, HomeControl, wanted to develop a unique solution through which the end-users could control all their devices via one app and one gateway.
Energy management
HomeControls solution should enable consumers to easily monitor and control light, temperature, energy consumption, and electrical devices through the app. This leads to reduced energy consumption and energy savings, as much as up to 30 %, while still maintaining a high level of comfort. HomeControl also works on increasing safety through home automation systems.
At Develco Products, HomeControl found the gateway they were looking for. By supporting multiple wireless protocols, including ZigBee, Z-Wave, Wireless MBus and WiFi, the Squid.link Gateway was the perfect fit for HomeControl’s unified solution. The flexibility of the gateway made it possible to integrate different devices based on different technologies in one smart home platform. Moreover, the Squid.link Gateway allowed HomeControl to build their app on top of it.
Multiple possibilities with Develco Products’ devices
To enable customers to manage and control their smart homes, HomeControl also chose several of Develco Products’ other intelligent devices to be integrated in their platform, among these were the Smoke Alarm that automatically alerts users via the HomeControl app if there is a fire or the battery is low. Also, the Smart Plug Mini was chosen as it enables users to switch e.g. lightning, TV and music on or off through the app. In addition, the External Meter Interface, providing people with live reports of their energy consumption, became a part of HomeControl’s platform.
The fast way to a smart home
By using Develco Products’ devices in the platform, HomeControl has been able to customize their smart home solution and expand it with products that are easy to connect and install. In this way, the company enables users to build their smart home faster and reduce energy consumption without compromising their level of comfort.
