RAMBOLL TO EXCHANGE KNOW-HOW ON WASTE-TO-ENERGY WITH BELGIAN ISVAG

The letter of intent was signed in the presence of their Majesties the King and the Queen of the Belgians at an official signing ceremony in Copenhagen, see the link to Danish Industries with link to video below.

ISVAG is responsible for the final processing of non-recyclable household waste from more than one million citizens in the wider region of Antwerp.

The Letter of Intent concerns the exchange of know-how on the development of district heating and the role waste-to-energy can play in this, to ensure the application of best practice in connection with the implementation of the new waste-to-energy facility in Antwerp.

Looking to Denmark for best practice

ISVAG would like to be the first mover in Belgium on the establishment of a district heating network using heat generated at the Antwerp waste-to-energy facility as a significant part of a smarter and sustainable energy system. Belgium and ISVAG, in particular, is looking to Denmark for best practice as Denmark has a well-established district heating network, which makes it possible to recover all the energy in the processed waste, see links below to Ramboll.

Introducing combined heat and power production in Belgium

Ramboll has over the past 12 months been working for ISVAG on its new waste-to-energy facility in Antwerp. When established the facility will be processing about 190,000 tonnes of residual waste annually. Ramboll has prepared the outline design and will after the final decision on the architecture prepare the tender documents required for the establishment of the facility.
