On 4–5 November 2025, Odense will host the 19th Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan Conference, co-organised by the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities and the European Commission under the Danish EU Presidency. The conference gathers high-level speakers, policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and academia to discuss how Europe can accelerate clean energy innovation.

Discover the eventThe SET Plan is the European Union’s central framework for coordinating research and innovation in low-carbon energy technologies. It aligns national and European priorities and fosters collaboration between governments, industry, and research institutions to strengthen Europe’s position as a global leader in clean energy.
The 2025 conference will focus on how Europe can enhance the role of critical energy technologies in strengthening resilience, improve policy coordination to advance European leadership in energy innovation, and boost the competitiveness of the EU’s clean energy industries.
Denmark is uniquely positioned to host this year’s edition. For decades, the country has combined ambitious climate policy, strong research institutions, and innovative companies to develop and demonstrate clean energy solutions. From the first wind turbines in the 1970s to today’s large-scale offshore wind farms, green fuels, and Power-to-X technologies, Denmark has shown how long-term investment and close public-private collaboration can turn climate ambition into competitiveness.
The energy transition is no longer only about climate. In an increasingly unpredictable geopolitical landscape, access to reliable and renewable energy has become a matter of economic strategy and defence policy. As European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has emphasised, Europe must rely on “homegrown energy.”
By investing in resilient and flexible energy systems based on Europe’s own renewable resources, such as wind, solar, green gas, and green fuels, Denmark demonstrates how energy independence can strengthen both national security and European unity.
State of Green will be present at the SET Plan Conference 2025 to showcase Danish strongholds, partnerships, and innovative solutions that contribute to a more sustainable, secure, and competitive European energy system.
