Explore Copenhagen by Water in Your Own Solar Powered Boat

GoBoat, a new boat rental service, distinguishes itself by renting out solar powered boats coupled with the freedom to explore Copenhagen’s harbour and canals at own will. As such, it blends the freedom of the biking experience with a maritime atmosphere, so the end result becomes more than just a matter of experiencing Copenhagen on water – it becomes a novel experience of freedom on water – which separates it from the more traditional, route-specific canal tours:
Plan to visit: Danish Maritime Days 6-10 October 2014
“Our point of departure has always been sailing and a shared enthusiasm for the entire maritime culture, which is differently open. For instance, you always greet others passing by”, said Kasper Højer Ronne, one of the initiators behind GoBoat.
Further to the point, and very importantly, everyone can rent one. No certificates or prior experience required. Just find the GoBoat pavilion right next to the Harbour Bath, which is equipped with Gaia Solar’s photovoltaics and serves a dual purpose of a welcome spot for the guests and charging station for the boats.
Silently cruising around the harbour, each boat sails at around 3 knots and can hold up to 8 persons. Rental prices are DKK 395 / hour (EUR 72) and DKK 999 / 3 hours (EUR 182)
