Bladt Industries is to fabricate Suction Bucket Jacket Foundation

The fabrication of the much talked-about Suction Bucket Jacket foundation is to be commenced soon. A foundation, which in many ways is a fusion of already known foundation types – over the seabed it is a jacket structure and under the seabed it is the well known bucket foundation concept that is a part of the future 1:1 prototype.

The foundation will end up weighing approximately 900 tonnes and have a height of 56 meters. Each of the three suction buckets will have a diameter of 8 meters and the span between the buckets will be 23 meters. The foundation is scheduled to be ready in the third quarter of 2014. The foundation will be installed at Borkum Riffgrund Offshore Wind Farm to which Bladt Industries is delivering the 77 monopile foundations.

For Bladt Industries, this is not the first time we are manufacturing innovative constructions. Most recently in 2011, we fabricated the Hornsea Twisted Jacket, which was shipped from Aalborg to its final destination in the UK.
