Join State of Green on a journey to witness how Danish architecture, landscaping, planning and design have a great deal to offer and can contribute to paving the way towards more sustainable, livable and connected cities.

Discover events, perspectives, solutions and much more

With the UIA Congress themes in mind, this event will give participants the opportunity to experience Copenhagen’s bicycle-friendly urban landscape first-hand. Promoting SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, the route is planned to showcase examples of how to accommodate active mobility into the design of a green, liveable and connected city with a strong architectural appeal.

Bicycles are the favorite mode of transport for many Copenhageners. Join State of Green and Ramboll on an afternoon bicycle ride from the Bella Center to downtown Copenhagen. On the guided trip, participants will be introduced to several architectural gems and urban infrastructure landmarks in Copenhagen such as the VM Houses, the Mountain, the Bicycle Snake, the Paper Island and the Circle Bridge. This event will not only make participants familiar with Copenhagen’s renowned bicycling culture and infrastructure, but also introduce them to several examples of environmentally conscious, climate resilient and resource optimal urban design – all while being active outdoors.

The ~10km guided bicycle ride will start at the venue of the UIA Congress, the Bella Center, on July 4th after congress hours at 4:30pm and end in the city centre at approx. 6:00pm. Bicycles will be provided; helmets will not. Participants must be practiced bicyclists. Participation is free but there is a no-show fee of EUR 25. The maximum number of participants is 30 people.
