Video: Resource Efficiency – A Danish Approach

With 9 billion people sharing the planet by 2050, we have to find new ways to manage our production, design and consumption patterns. Importantly, waste is not just waste. Waste is a resource. For instance, from a waste to energy perspective, 1 bag of household waste can be converted into 3,5 hours of electricity and nearly 4 hours of district heating.

But to fully unleash the potential of waste, we need to recycle more and incinerate less, hence capturing the value and resources embedded in it. That is the Danish approach, and Denmark has set a goal of doubling the recycling rate for paper, cardboard, glass, metals, plastics, wood and organic waste from households in less than 10 years.

Indeed, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

The video showcases resource-efficient facts and approaches to:

Waste sorting, Building Materials, Recycling, Organic Waste and Household Waste as a Resource.

The video may be used, free of charge, to promote Denmark as a green nation under credit to State of Green.
