Ramboll has been appointed by Huadong Engineering Corporation to design foundations for the SPIC Binhai South H3 offshore wind farm in the Yellow Sea north of Shanghai.  The project involves geotechnical investigations, numerical modelling of waves, currents and tidal variations, and detailed designing of the mono-pile foundations for 75 wind turbines.

- “We are excited to have the opportunity to work on yet another offshore wind project in China,” says Søren Juel Petersen, Global Market Director in Ramboll Energy.
- “And we are proud to be helping China in their efforts to increase sustainable energy sources”.

Ramboll has already carried out two offshore wind projects in the Jiangsu province in China - the SPIC Binhai North H1 and H2 projects, on which Ramboll was responsible for the design of 125 mono-pile steel turbine foundations and a 400 MW substation. SPIC Binhai North H1 began producing power in December 2016 while SPIC Binhai North H2 is scheduled to produce power later in 2017.

The wind farm is being developed on behalf of the State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), a large state-owned enterprise committed to developing sustainable energy.
