Frederikshavn based Scanel International opens office in the UK

The company provides design and services for integrated electrical systems, equipment, installation, commissioning, not only for the international wind industry but also for marine, offshore, oil, gas and wind industries.

Ove Bolander Johansen, International Key Account Manager – Wind at Scanel International A/S, commented:

“We tested the water with a satellite office in Billingham, but found Hull to be the perfect location for our first fixed base, as it is right on the Humber, at the heart of the UK’s emerging offshore wind sector. It’s also equidistant to Lowestoft and the wind farms off the east coast, and Newcastle and Scotland. We’re also carrying out work at Hornsea Project One, which is a large project for us, so it’s great to be so close.”

The relocation and investment has been assisted by the Green Port Growth Programme, supported by the Regional Growth Fund (RGF). Tim Rix, Chairman of the Green Port Growth Programme, commented:

“The offshore wind market has been established in Denmark for some time, so companies like Scanel International have expertise that can support our local supply chain and the developing UK wind industry. Scanel International has secured contracts to work on pre-assembly sites here, and sees the potential to grow its business in the UK, and we are delighted they’ve chosen Hull as a location for its first permanent base in the UK.”

With the new office in Hull, the company representatives will be closer to the projects they are working on in the UK and will positioned better to win new contracts on offshore win contracts in the UK.
