COP30 edges closer as official thematic days are announced

With COP30 fast approaching, the conference presidency has announced the official thematic days, outlining key focus areas across climate resilience, energy, nature, equity and innovation.

As preparations for COP30 in Belém, Brazil continue to take shape, the Presidency of the UN Climate Change Conference has released the official calendar of thematic days, providing a clearer picture of what to expect when negotiators, businesses, civil society and governments gather from 10–21 November 2025.

The announcement marks another step towards what is expected to be a pivotal moment in the global climate agenda – not least as the conference will respond to the findings of the first Global Stocktake and focus on turning ambition into implementation.

With a focus on inclusion, urgency and action, the thematic days are structured around six main areas: energy, nature, food, cities and water, people, and cross-cutting enablers. Each day is designed to foster engagement across sectors, offering a shared platform for stakeholders to align on solutions and move from dialogue to delivery.

What to expect from the thematic days at COP30

The thematic days are intended to guide participation, highlight implementation, and connect the formal negotiations to real-world challenges and solutions. The themes reflect core pillars of climate action and mirror many of the priority areas found in national climate strategies, including Denmark’s.

Highlights from the thematic days include:

  • 10–11 November: Adaptation, Cities, Infrastructure, Water, Waste, Local Governments, Bioeconomy, Circular Economy, Tourism
  • 12–13 November: Health, Jobs, Education, Culture, Justice and Human Rights, Workers, Information Integrity, Global Ethical Stocktake
  • 14–15 November: Energy, Industry, Transport, Trade, Finance, Carbon Markets, Non-CO₂ Gases
  • 17–18 November: Forests, Oceans, Biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples, Local Communities, Youth, SMEs
  • 19–20 November: Agriculture, Food Security, Fisheries, Family Farming, Gender, Afrodescendants, Science, Technology, AI

These days aim to connect global priorities with local and sector-specific solutions — from energy transition and nature protection to equitable food systems and climate governance rooted in justice and ethics.

What to expect from the Denmark Pavilion

At COP30, Denmark will once again host a national pavilion in collaboration between the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Danish Industry, and State of Green.

The Denmark Pavilion will serve as a meeting point for Danish and international stakeholders, offering a space to showcase solutions, host events and engage in dialogue. With Denmark’s 2030 climate target of a 70% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, the pavilion will highlight how public-private collaboration can accelerate the global green transition.

The pavilion will bring together leading Danish companies, energy providers, financial actors, organisations and NGOs, all contributing to a unified platform for climate action and partnership. Events and showcases will align with the COP30 thematic agenda and provide opportunities to engage with global decision-makers, partners and media.
