The project consists of development and scientific documentation of cleaning ability, hydraulics, evaporation, and biodiversity in the holistic LAR-road rain gardens. The aim of the project is to achieve improved purification of road water in LAR-road rain gardens, which in comparison with pipe solutions, have a lower CO2 footprint and contribute to a green profile in our urban areas.
The purpose is to optimize the interaction between the filter soil mixtures and the planting composition, so that the plants, the root zone and the filter material as a whole are optimized and documented scientifically.
The holistic LAR-road rain gardens are done in close collaboration between VandCenter Syd, the University of Copenhagen, Aarhus University, the University of Southern Denmark, BG Byggros and EnviDan A/S.
The project is supported by the Ministry of Environment of Denmark, through the MUDP-program.
