Sales of Electric Cars has Doubled
In the first half of 2015, 1,265 new electric cars were put on Danish roads. This corresponds to an increase of 110 per cent compared with the same period last year, writes the Berlingske News Agency (BNB) on Sunday, based on new figures from the Danish Electric Vehicle Alliance.
Therefore, the sales of electric cars now constitute more than one percent of the total car sales in Denmark and the rest of Europe.

- This is the double compared to last year's sales, and we can only be happy about this. It creates more visibility of electric cars, and there is an expectation that the increase will continue, if we continue to maintain the good conditions for electric cars in Denmark, says Lærke Flader, Managing Director of the Danish Electric Vehicle Alliance to BNB.
In Denmark, the electric cars are currently tax exempt, but the tak exempt will expire in 2016. However, the government has announced that they will rethink car taxation and the Danish Electric Vehicle Alliance has high hopes for this.

In Europe, more than 78,000 electric cars were sold in the first half 2015, corresponding to an average increase of 75 per cent. All over Europe, countries politically improve conditions for electric cars, and it is one of the major reasons for this progress, says Lærke Flader.
- We see a growing trend that other countries improve conditions for electric cars. They provide grants for electric vehicles and provide special conditions for electric vehicles with regards to parking and infrastructure. It makes it easier for the consumer to choose an electric car. Of course it is our hope that Denmark will do the same.
