Developing a Full-Scale Bioethanol Plant
Sealing the deal
Representatives from EDDP visited the company at Nupark in Holstebro on Wednesday where handshakes sealed the deal. Local energy providers and DONG Energy, the company’s behind Maabjerg Energy Concept (MEC), have been drawing charts and calculating numbers since the announcement in August 2011 of plans to establish nothing less than the world's first full-scale plant for production of bio ethanol based on straw.

At the end of April MEC faces its first milestone when an analysis will reveal if the technological and economic ambitions are sustainable. If all goes well MEC will be able to produce up to 73 million litres of bio ethanol annually by 2016.
