CSR Water for Ugandan workers

A major steel manufacturer in Uganda has decided to provide safe drinking water to its more than thousand workers AND their families, by implementing their own water purification solution from Pure H2O.

The solution entails giving access to safe drinking water for the workers in a very hot working environment, and the workers can take home drinking water to their families. 

 

The implementation is expected to improve

- The worker's health through access to safe drinking water

- The worker's household economy in reduced expenses for drinking water and medical bills related to water borne diseases.

 

The manufacturer will benefit through

- Employee retention because of the added value in the job.

- Improved production through retention of skilled workers and less sick days.

- Return on Investment through savings on less purchasing of bottled water.

- Local acceptance and branding as a socially responsible enterprise.

 

Environmental benefits

The project includes the reduction of bottled water for more than one thousand employees, which in turn will considerately reduce handling and distribution of bottled water, and the following waste management of the empty PET bottles in the years to come.
