Conversion of Amersfoort WWTP into an energy and nutrient-recovery plant facility

In July 2013, the Vallei & Veluwe water board awarded the SH+E Group the order for the design, execution and long-term maintenance of the Omzet.Amersfoort project. The design submission stood out thanks to the combination of the already present (DEMON®) and the new technologies. As a consequence the project can be completed on budget and has a reasonable payback period.

Grontmij offers knowledge of and experience with the full range of products and technology in respect of waste water treatment in relation to water boards and suppliers. We are licence holders for DEMON® technology in the Netherlands. In the tender process, Grontmij elaborated ideas on how existing and new technologies could be practically combined in a single design, capable of transforming the WWTP into an energy-producing and nutrient recovery facility. Grontmij will remain involved throughout the transformation process. The first step is the further elaboration of the design followed by supervision of the application for permits. We will subsequently provide support during execution, start-up and (re) calibration of the installations.
