A public-private push for global biodiversity action
The global decline of biodiversity is one of the most pressing environmental challenges.
As we face an escalating global biodiversity crisis, it is becoming increasingly clear that we must take collaborative action to safeguard nature. Biodiversity is no longer just an environmental issue; it has become a critical business concern that influences long-term viability, resource availability and supply chain resilience. With nature and climate being two sides of the same coin, it is imperative that all corners of society recognise the value of integrating biodiversity considerations into their strategies and operations.
Bringing together decision-makers, companies, and biodiversity experts, COP16 will focus on reviewing progress since the adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Held in Cali, Colombia, from 21 October to 1 November, COP16 offers a unique platform to advance global biodiversity goals, from aligning national strategies to developing fair and equitable mechanisms for sharing benefits from genetic resources.
With all key players at the table, COP16 is a critical opportunity to accelerate action and shape the future of biodiversity conservation.
