One of the world's largest producers of renewable energy
Acciona Energia, Spain, is one of the world's largest producers of renewable energy. The straw fired power plant in Sangüesa supplies power to the Spanish grid. Each year the plant uses around 160.000 tonnes of straw, which comes from agriculture in a radius of 75 km from the plant.

Qubiqa's involvment in the Sangüesa-project
Qubiqa delivered straw reception and logistics for the transportation/distribution of straw for the power plant boiler and fire-resistant doors to the straw barn (BS 60 certified). The system has the capacity to handle a maximum of 100 straw bales per. hour. Each bale weighs 850 kilos. Since 2001, Qubiqa have had a very limited sale of spare parts to the Sangüesa plant, despite the fact that it runs around the clock. The robust system has very few wear parts.
