Challenge

In the restaurant industry, grease and oil buildup in ventilation systems is a major challenge that requires regular cleaning to prevent fire risks and ensure a healthy work environment. Normally, restaurants need to clean their ductwork 2-6 times a year, which is both costly and time-consuming.

Solution

With JIMCO’s Kitchen Pollution Control (KPC) system, installed directly behind the grease filters in the hoods above grills and fryers, McDonald’s in Næstved has not needed to clean their ducts for 10 years. The KPC system uses UV-C light to break down grease and oil residues, while ozone oxidation cleans the rest of the duct system. This ensures clean exhaust air and eliminates the need for frequent cleaning.

Result

After 10 years with JIMCO KPC, McDonald’s in Næstved has achieved nearly grease-free ventilation ducts, as shown by the inspection hatches. In addition to saving money on cleaning, the system has significantly reduced fire risks. Damian, the restaurant’s technical manager, states: “We no longer need to fear fire risks, and we save money. For the staff, the KPC system is easy to maintain.”
