As global awareness of biodiversity loss increases, companies are recognizing the need to integrate biodiversity efforts into their business practices. For Vattenfall, a leading European energy company, this challenge includes not only implementing biodiversity initiatives but also ensuring that employees are actively engaged in these efforts. Vattenfall wanted to create a sense of ownership and responsibility among its employees, helping them understand the company’s biodiversity goals and their role in achieving them.
To address this challenge, Vattenfall has developed an internal app designed to engage employees in its biodiversity efforts. The app features a photo-sharing function that allows employees to document and share images of biodiversity-related activities. By creating a space where employees can actively participate in creating awareness about nature and biodiversity, Vattenfall aims to foster a culture of environmental responsibility.
The introduction of the internal app has led to increased engagement among Vattenfall employees to share their encounters with animals and nature at our sites. A selection of pictures sent to the app has also been showcased within an annual nature photo contest, with the aim to spread scientific knowledge about environmental protection across the company.
