The treatment is accomplished in front of a school with heavy traffic of both children and cars, and it is a pleasure for Photocat to provide cleaner air for this vulnerable group. Other capitals of Europe are aware of the harmful impact of NOx, and in 2021 our Partners in both Paris and Madrid are moving forward with the implementation of photocatalytic surfaces. Photocat’s solutions are (as of July 2021) implemented in 14 countries worldwide, hereof more than ten capitals and big cities.
Air pollution kills an estimated seven million people worldwide every year. WHO data shows that 9 out of 10 people breathe air that exceeds WHO guideline limits containing high levels of pollutants, with low- and middle-income countries suffering from the highest exposures.
In Europe concentrations above the annual limit value for nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are still widely registered. In 2017, around 10 % of all the reporting stations in EU-28 recorded concentrations above WHO thresholds.
