From 1983 to 2008 Skive Municipality has invested a total amount of 38.6 million in energy saving arrangements. The economic savings of these actions are estimated to approx. 54 million DKK. Overall it has reduced the CO2-emission of Skive Municipality with 28.728.000 kg.  As a result of these actions Skive Municipality was appointed as one of Denmark’s first ‘Energiby’ (energycity) in October 2008 and in 2009 the department “Energibyen Skive” was established within Skive Municipality.

Energibyen Skive is part of the Technical Administration in Skive. The department exclusively works with projects promoting the goals as described in Skive’s Climate and Energy Strategy 2029 (only available in Danish). With that, Skive municipality has set the standards for climate- and energy-strategies across the country. Energibyen Skive will continue, both locally and strategically, to involve the citizens and organisations in order to create an even more independent, self-reliant and sustainable society, which will benefit everyone living and working in Skive.
