In Copenhagen

HOE360 consulting has worked intensively with issues related to Cargo-bikes (utility bikes) and especially developing safe ways to park and store them.

The first project, developed for the City of Copenhagen - and know as the Pink car - was the world's first parking facility for Cargo bikes. Its prominent design (pink and shaped as a full size car) caused a lot of attention. But most important it laid the foundation for further work that led to an industrialised solution that has been implemented in todays Copenhagen, that focuses on providing the user with a safe lockable rack.

In Malmö

For the City of Malmö, Sweden we developed a design line and parking rack customised for cargo bikes with a special focus on a behavioural regulating design to ensure optimal use of the solution. The solution's design means that the parking is optimized only for Cargo bikes and thereby complicate parking of ordinary bicycles in the same rack. The key is the height of the rack that makes it difficult for two-wheel bikes to lean towards the rack, but easy for Cargo-bikes to park in.

Normally, only traditional parking racks exist, which are suited for ordinary bicycles, but with this solution it is now possible to favour cargo bikes as well.

Part of the work for City of Malmö was the planning and execution of a workshop, which subsequently led to the development of the above mentioned design concept.
