Energy efficiency will be at the heart of the debate. The general building stock in New York, and beyond, is performing poorly in terms of energy efficiency. With carbon emission reduction high on the agenda, the focus increasingly turns towards the built environment.

The public sector is paving the way with ambitious goals for increased energy efficiency; New York City targets a 30 percent reduction of greenhouse gasses in public buildings by 2025, New York State has adopted a goal of 20 percent reduction in state buildings by 2020. At federal level, the goal is to double energy productivity nationwide by 2050.

This year, Danish Cleantech Hub is proud to host an official NYEW high-level event: The Future of Demand Side Management - The Intelligent Building, in collaboration with COORDICY and EnerKnol.

“The fourth annual New York Energy Week will focus on how new policies, technologies and people are transforming the energy system as we know it,” says Angelique Mercurio, founder and CEO of EnerKnol. “If the past is any guide, event participants will secure new ideas and build new relationships that allow them to accelerate the development of a more intelligent, more dependable and lower carbon energy system.”

Danish Cleantech Hub, a platform for transatlantic knowledge sharing, will present the results of the COORDICY research project. COORDICY is a strategic cross-Atlantic Danish-American project for advancing ICT-driven research and innovation in energy efficiency of public and commercial buildings.

“This is a unique chance for Danish stakeholders to join high-level New York policymakers and industry representatives on the state’s premiere energy platform”, says Hans Peter Slente, Senior Advisor at The Energy Secretariat, Confederation of Danish Industry.

Warming up for the high-level event, Danish Cleantech Hub is also hosting two thematic workshops on the topic in collaboration with Building Energy Exchange.

The events will take place Thursday 16 June 2016 at Building Energy Exchange, 31 Chambers St Suite 609, New York, NY 10007 (9.00am-4.30pm), and at New York University, 40 Washington Square S, New York, NY 10012 (5.30–8.00pm).
