After having waited for years, approx. 900 keen visitors finally got the chance to visit the Visitors Centre, near Østerild, at the Test Centre for Large Wind Turbines when it was inaugurated, Saturday 9 September 2017.

With the sun shining, the mayor of Thisted, Lene Kjelgaard Jensen welcomed the visitors to the centre and right after her speech, Minister of Energy, Utilities and Climate, Lars Chr. Lilleholt held his speech and said among other things:

“A centre like this must be functional. It is to be used both by DTU and the companies that are making measurements and tests on the wind turbines. At the same time it must also be the frame for dissemination about wind, wind energy and green energy to visitors from come from far and near.”

It was a very happy and proud president of DTU, Anders Bjarklev, who in his speech pointed out that:

Anne Skovbo, Philanthropy Manager at Realdania and Anders Vedel, CTO, Turbines R&D / Global Solutions & Services and EVP at Vestas Wind Systems and Michael Hannibal, CEO, Offshore Wind at Siemens Gamesa held speeches for the many visitors who with excitement waited to get the go to take a look at the new Visitors Centre from the inside.

Entertainment by DTU Science Show
One of the big attractions of the day, besides the new visitor centre, was DTU Science Show presented by the two young students Emil and Casper. They are both studying Chemistry at DTU and participated in the festivity by making several DTU Science Shows during the day – to great amusement for both children and adults.

In the future the Centre is open for everybody, and whenever you have the time, take a break and travel to experience the new and interesting Visitor Centre, the huge wind turbines and last but not least the wonderful and unique nature that surrounds the Test Centre for Large Wind Turbines.
