Climate Week NYC is the largest annual climate event of its kind. Featuring over 600 events and activities across New York City from 22-29 September, dignitaries, industry leaders, heads of states and leading asset managers will use the United Nations General Assembly as a backdrop to discuss the world’s most pressing climate issues and pave the way for a successful COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Denmark is actively engaging in the global climate dialogue, highlighting partnership models, policies and tangible solutions to combat climate change. State of Green will organise multiple events, focusing on three key areas in the green transition:

  • Mobilising catalytic climate finance – financing the green transition is one of the biggest challenges of our time and it is crucial that the investment gap is bridged to build resilient societies and boost the buildout of renewables. With uncertainties among investors being a main reason for the lack of climate financing, debates will focus on ways to mobilise public and private finance that accelerates the implementation of tangible solutions in developed as well as emerging and developing markets.
  • we engage in NYC Climate Week to share Danish experiences on ways to mobilise public and private finance that accelerates implementation of tangible solutions in developed as well as emerging and developing markets.
  • Implementing of the Global Biodiversity Framework to bridge business and biodiversity – with the Kumming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, the urgency of addressing the biodiversity crisis has been underscored by both the public and private sectors globally. We will bring together key stakeholders from across sectors to explore strategies and joint efforts to push the needle on biodiversity conservation.
  • Delivering on COP28’s commitment to triple global renewable energy capacity by 2030 – The UAE consensus at COP28 saw all parties commit to a global tripling of renewable energy capacity by 2030 as part of a wider energy package. Achieving this goal will require unprecedented cooperation between governments, industries and communities to scale up renewable energy deployment. Events will focus on sharing best-practices and come up with new ways to bringing clean and affordable energy to all.

Sustainability Summit NYC

Fuelled by public-private partnerships, the Sustainability Summit will facilitate three days of dialogue to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Stakeholders from various countries and sectors will present best practices and discuss actionable solutions to advance the sustainable transition for both the planet and its people.

Over three days, the summit will highlight a strong Danish presence at Climate Week, partnering with more than 30 organisations. Hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Danish Industry and the Danish Chamber of Commerce, the debates, talks, and receptions will focus on solutions to pressing sustainability issues.

State of Green is co-hosting an evening reception on 23 September in partnership with PensionDanmark, PKA and PFA. The high-level reception and panel will discuss how to stimulate global efforts towards mobilising capital for renewable energy and the green transition in emerging markets and developing countries.
