Big Data in Denmark Attracts Japanese Giant
Denmark’s strong competencies in data availability, health technology, smart city and energy efficiency paved the way for Hitachi’s choice. Specifically, Copenhagen offers unique access to comprehensive and long-standing electronic databases and registries, excellent for research, testing and development of healthtech, smart city and energy-efficient solutions.

Moreover, Copenhagen’s ambitious climate target of becoming carbon-neutral by 2025 combined with the Danish target of fossil fuel independency by 2050 have accelerated the development of data-based, carbon reduction solutions.

In close collaboration with Danish-based Hitachi Consulting Corporation, the Danish Big Data Research Laboratory plans to create new service concepts and business models. These will be developed through participation in activities such as private, public and academic initiatives and field trials involving user participation in cooperation with local institutions in major Danish cities. The focus areas addressed by the Big Data Research Laboratory in Denmark will encompass environment and energy as well as transportation and healthcare, all of which are key themes targeted by Danish government.
