CTR is responsible for the purchase of heat from large scale CHP and incineration plants in the Copenhagen area and for the transport of this heat through the transmission net for sale to its five owners - the municipalities of Frederiksberg, Gentofte, Gladsaxe, Copenhagen and Taarnby.

It is possible to visit one of two different sites. Both visits include a presentation of the story of the Copenhagen climate friendly heat-transmission system. The agenda will be a short film, a slide show and room for questions.

1. A peak-load and back-up heat plant in the near of Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup. The plant is a heat boiler based on gasoil with a capacity of 65 MW. The plant is a good example of architecture for energy plants and received The Scandinavian Green Roof Award 2007 because of “successful integration of the building into the landscape, where energy awareness and a basic ecological approach are reinforced by the green roof”.

2. An underground heat exchanger station at Frederiksberg, Julius Thomsens Plads. The site is a very big room placed under the city with a lot of different heat installations. Hot water under high pressure is exchanged into lower grades and pressure and then delivered through the distribution network to the consumers.
