The partnership brings together State of Green’s public-private platform for promoting Danish green solutions and Novonesis, the world’s leading biosolutions company. The collaboration reflects a growing interest in how biological innovations can enable climate and energy solutions while creating jobs, growth, and economic resilience.

Denmark has built a strong position within biosolutions through decades of close collaboration between industry, research institutions, and public authorities. Combined with a highly industrialised economy and ambitious climate targets, this has created a solid foundation for bringing biological innovations such as biosolutions to market.

While the global potential remains largely untapped, biosolutions are already delivering measurable results across agriculture, food production, energy, and industrial manufacturing – improving yields and increasing efficiency. Against this backdrop, global estimates suggest that by 2035, the sector could generate more than five million jobs and create over €877 billion in economic value with the right policies in place.

“By 2030, existing biosolutions alone could cut global CO₂ emissions by up to 8 percent. That’s a real opportunity available today. By partnering with State of Green, we want to show the world how biosolutions can increase resilience and reduce emissions across agriculture, food, materials, industry, and energy,”  Morten Enggaard Rasmussen, Executive Vice President for People, Sustainability, and Stakeholder Relations at Novonesis.

Biosolutions is a rapidly growing industry, and this partnership will help raise awareness of its benefits, positioning it as a key enabler across various industries. Together, the partners will share knowledge and drive international engagement. This includes joint activities such as international outreach, participation in global platforms, and the development of shared content.

“If we are to reach net zero, it is crucial that we shift towards bio-based solutions instead of relying on fossil-based alternatives,” says Charlotte Gjedde, Executive Director at State of Green. “As part of our ongoing focus on green value chains across sectors, we recognise the growing significance of biosolutions in making products more sustainable. Through this partnership, we aim to position biosolutions alongside other key green enablers, such as renewable energy, electrification, and circular production.”
