European Energy A/S has been instrumental in advancing Lithuania’s renewable energy landscape, having developed more than 309 MW of onshore wind capacity. Notably, the company constructed its first wind farm in Anykščiai, a 49.5 MW facility, which began operations in 2021. Additionally, European Energy has partnered with GE Renewable Energy to deploy 34 GE Cypress turbines across three projects in Telšiai and Rokiškis, collectively adding 187 MW to the national grid. These initiatives underscore European Energy’s commitment to supporting Lithuania’s goal of achieving 100% renewable electricity by 2050.
Given today’s shifting geopolitical landscape, particularly with the ongoing energy security challenges in Europe, Lithuania and Denmark’s collaboration in the renewable energy sector, especially through wind energy, serves as a critical pillar for ensuring energy independence and stability in the Baltic region. This partnership strengthens both countries’ ability to reduce reliance on external energy sources and accelerate the green transition while enhancing energy resilience in the face of geopolitical uncertainties.
