In 2007, Steen Regel built a new low-energy house and was eager to install an indoor climate solution that could cut his heating bill to a minimum. His choice was Nilan’s Compact P system: a customised ventilation and heating system with low energy consumption, long lifetime and short payback time.

More heating at less cost

A 240-m2 single-family home built in the 1970s will typically have an annual heating consumption of 33,600 kWh. If the home has a gas- or oil-fired boiler, this corresponds to an annual heating bill of up to 4,565 € and 7,250 €, respectively. The Compact P system cuts Steen’s annual heating consumption to just 2,583 kWh, at a cost of 710 €. This is a major saving that really makes a difference. The system recovers heat from the air, besides using an integrated geothermal heat pump to extract energy from the ground to heat the home and produce hot water. It also ensures a healthier indoor climate free of damp, odours and allergens, thanks to the built-in ventilation system.

Easy operation and minimum maintenance

To maintain the required indoor climate, Steen Regel only needs to switch on the geothermal heat pump in the autumn, and switch it off again in the spring. The system is set to match the air exchange and temperature in the home to the family’s weekly rhythm and the home’s humidity level. “The system is simple to operate - on a fully automated basis.

With help from ground pipes Compact P GEO uses and exploits the energy stored in the ground to heat your home using underfloor heating or other heating solutions at low temperatures. The system has an integrated 3 kW (Compact GEO 3) or 6 kW (Compact P GEO 6) geothermal pump. Both have a variable compressor which can be regulated 0.5-3 kW 2-6 kW (liquid/water temperature of 0°/35°C). This means that the solution adapts the need for heating, thus ensuring low power consumption.

Compact P GEO solution can reduce your heating bill by up to 50%. For each kW of electricity the geothermal heat pump uses, you will get up to four kW back.
