At Soli Organic (American herb producer), they faced the challenge of moving away from traditional outdoor farming toward a more reliable and efficient indoor model.
To stay competitive, they needed to reduce transportation and cold storage demands by producing closer to urban markets, all while maintaining organic standards and keeping unit costs low. At the same time, they aimed to increase yield predictability and shorten growth cycles, without compromising on quality.
In 2012, Viemose DGS delivered the first 8 lanes of our Moving Gutter System to support their transition from outdoor farming to a more efficient, climate-controlled indoor setup. Since then, our collaboration has continued, most recently with the delivery of our latest system lines in 2022, expanding Soli Organic’s production capacity even further.
This scalable, high-performance solution has helped Soli Organic become the leading national grower of fresh, organic, and culinary herbs in the U.S. By bringing production closer to stores, they’ve significantly reduced transportation needs and cold storage dependency, lowering emissions while improving freshness and delivery times.
Thanks to the Moving Gutter System, Soli Organic now achieves higher, more predictable yields in shorter growth cycles than traditional outdoor fields or greenhouses. Their unit costs for organic produce now rival those of field-grown crops and outperform all other indoor farm models in the U.S.
