As countries seek to strengthen energy security and reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, there is a growing need to produce more fuel from existing domestic resources. Agricultural crops, residues and waste biomass can play an important role in diversifying fuel supply. The challenge is to get as much fuel as possible from the same amount of biomass.

The biological processes of enzymes and yeast can improve the conversion of biomass into bioethanol. This increases the fuel yields while reducing the resource use and the production costs.

The technology helps increase biofuel yields by 2-3 %, enabling more efficient production of domestically produced low-carbon fuels and contributing to greater national energy security.
