This seminar will discuss how variable renewables like solarPV and wind energy fit into a liquid and transparent electricity market with a high level of security of supply. The seminar will open with a comparison of the challenges faced by Japan and the Nordics in decarbonizing the energy system. The seminar will then focus on how renewables can be a natural part of the electricity market, seen from both the Japanese and Nordic perspective. The concluding panel discussion will delve more deeply into the specific challenges and opportunities that lie in including higher levels of variable renewable energy.
