Scion DTU strengthens green entrepreneurs’ business

Scion DTU is the lead partner in this project, which is gathering activities and competences across the whole value chain to support the development of new green companies and ensure important Danish jobs.

The Green Entrepreneur House, which will soon move onto the Danish Technical University’s (DTU’s) Risø Campus in Roskilde, is the result of a particularly strong partnership within business development, network creation, and the incubation environment, and between entrepreneurs who are working with green solutions. At the same time, contacts to the national and international entrepreneurial environments are also playing a crucial role.

Benefiting emerging growth companies
The location at Risø, with direct access to world-class test and demonstration facilities, and DTU’s competencies in exactly this area, provide a unique possibility to utilise the existing strengths in Green Denmark, for the benefit of emerging growth companies.

CEO at Scion DTU, Steen Donner:

"Denmark has strong competencies in green technology, but we don’t see this converted into new successful companies to the degree that we had expected. The Green Entrepreneur House will change this by strengthening and developing the entrepreneur’s green business model. We have to create a strong ecosystem, and this project is a step in the right direction."

A factory for prototypes
Specifically, the construction of a factory for prototypes, the so-called FabLab, together with technical support, is a response to the challenge that many of the green entrepreneurs are experiencing: the need to cheaply and easily create a prototype and then testing their idea and product in the market. This is of crucial importance for a company’s survival.

Scion DTU is leading the consortium, which also includes Denmark’s Technical University, Væksthus Zealand, Væksthus Copenhagen, Accelerace and Rethink Business.

The Green Entrepreneur House opens 1st September 2013. Interested entrepreneurs and companies can already contact Kristine Garde at Scion DTU by e-mail: [email protected] or by telephone: +45 5171 7776.
