In the coming years, one of the world’s largest and most advanced research facilities will be placed in the Øresund Region. The facility, named European Spallation Source (ESS), is a neutron scattering facility which will function as a giant and very advanced microscope. ESS will open up for new possibilities of the understanding of energy materials.

Expected to be fully functional by 2019, ESS will gather various different research cooperations in Europe. In terms of becoming a hub for knowledge, ESS is a unique opportunity for strengthening Danish businesses and for developing the Øresund Region.

Conference on Copenhagen Business School February 24, 2012

More knowledge and more competences within the neutron area are essential for Danish research and businesses to gain from the construction of ESS. In order to inform the Danish society – businesses and research institutions – of the opportunities of ESS, Confederation of Danish Industry is along side Danish Agency for Science, Techonology, and Innovation hosting a conference on the topic on February 24, 2012 at Copenhagen Business School.

The Øresund Region – a hub for some of the world’s best researchers

ESS will contribute to the making of the Øresund Region as a hub for some of the world’s best researchers. Bringing along new jobs, settlement of highly educated foreigners and increased sales opportunities of products and services, ESS represents an investment in the Øresund Region as well as in Denmark. In sum, the establishment of ESS is a boost to Danish business.
