Highlighted News from Danish Green Stakeholders in October 2017

Reading State of Green’s highlighted news, our readers gain useful insight into the newest projects from our profiles related to a variety of different green sectors.

In October, these stories covered an ambitious plan to expand the cycle infrastructure in Copenhagen before 2025, a new efficient fatigue testing of wind turbine blades, an applicable guide for designing sustainable buildings, a new partnership in Uganda aimed at reducing potential devastating oil spillage, and a new EU research project to develop a solution for integrating demand response into residential buildings.

As the first news story on our list, the Cycling Embassy of Denmark has announced several new initiatives to improve the bicycle track infrastructure in Copenhagen by e.g. focusing even more on green bicycle routes and super bicycle tracks.

Secondly, in another story related to circular motion, DTU Wind Energy has written about a new large Scale Facility which will deal with the strains that wind blades are exposed to in several different directions at the same time. By collaborating with different Danish stakeholders from the wind industry, the project aims to improve fatigue testing of wind turbine blades, among other things.

Moving from testing to findings and knowledge sharing, a new eBook from WindowMaster shares important knowledge of how and why one should design green buildings with natural ventilation and what to consider before choosing this ventilation system. The guide is based on the experience from the company’s specialists in both Denmark, Norway, Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland and the United States.

And speaking of sharing experiences with the rest of the world, DESMI has joined forces with waste management firm Epsilon Ltd. in order to reduce potential devastating oil spillage in Uganda. By providing modern oil spill equipment as well as specialised training to the country’s oil sector, DESMI looks to prevent adverse effects of oil spillages.

Finally, Develco is providing another demand response solution - not in relation to oil spillage, however, but rather efficient energy consumption. As a part of the EU project RESPONSE, the company is providing a variety of devices that will make it possible to monitor and control energy consumption in households most efficiently.
