Global challenges and sustainable solutions

Lack of clean, affordable energy and integrated energy systems. Scarcity of clean water. Rapidly growing mega-cities. Unsustainable use of resources. The challenges are immense, but so is the progress we have made. Many countries have already achieved sizeable gains and undertaken substantial action to encourage sustainable growth and address climate change. Tapping into state-of-the-art technologies and solutions, transitioning towards a low-carbon society has never been more attainable.

Today, State of Green launches its new website, which provides access to an abundance of sustainable, Danish solutions that can help nations, governments and companies tackle the challenges of the journey towards a sustainable, low-carbon, resource-efficient society. Based on a survey of the most pressing issues in the global, green transition, State of Green has identified four major challenges that the world is grappling with today:

  • Powering our future with sustainable energy
  • Creating smart, green and liveable cities
  • Ensuring water security for a growing world
  • Moving towards a circular economy

The four global challenges function as thematic entry points to associated sectors, sub-sectors and approx. 1,400 solutions from more than 600 Danish businesses, governmental and academic institutions, experts, and researchers.

As the one-point entry to State of Green’s partners, the new stateofgreen.com connects political and commercial decision makers with all leading Danish players working to drive the global, green transition. Whether it be within renewable energy, energy efficiency, water management, waste management, climate adaption or integrated urban solutions, the website matches visitors with the partners and solutions they need.

Collaboration and dialogue
- Denmark wishes to take an active role in helping to solve global challenges. Collaboration and dialogue are central elements of the Danish mind-set. Therefore, the Danish government and companies seek to stimulate debate, spur partnerships and inspire others through leading by example, rather than advocating a one-size-fits-all model, explained Finn Mortensen, Executive Director at State of Green.

- By sharing our experiences and lessons learned, we hope to not only inspire others, but also allow them to save valuable time and resources in their own transition. We believe that by doing so, mutually beneficial relationships can arise that will assist in achieving a more rapid and cost-effective transition to a greener society. Our goal is to support our stakeholders’ role in the global green transition in the most optimal way and we hope that the new stateofgreen.com will prove valuable to them, said Finn Mortensen.
