Among the measures utilised to reach this target is to renovate the technical facilities in the 245,000 m² buildings and to expand the capacity of the hospital’s own renewable energy sources. This is being implemented by Siemens as an Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) project that covers technologies such as lighting, building management, energy management, intelligent controlled bedrooms, photo voltage, turbocor cooling, ventilation, water savings and freezer technology. With an investment of EUR 24 million, this EPC project is one of the largest of its kind in Europe.

Siemens is guaranteeing the significant energy savings – where energy expanded on heating is reduced by 41 per cent, electricity by 23 per cent and water by 7 per cent – this provides the project with a payback time of 10 years. The project won the European Energy Service Project in 2017.
