A feasibility study for the Kiel Olympic Sailing Competitions 2024 has been delivered by Behnisch Architekten and Schulze+Grassov. Along with the applicant city of Hamburg the existing 1972 Olympiazentrum Schilksee will be developed for the Olympic Sailing Competitions 2024 to become a more comprehensively vital and diverse centre for maritime sports.

The partnership of Behnisch Architekten and Schulze+Grassov was selected by the City of Kiel to ensure a strong urban design solution that safeguards legacy goals and to provide new impulses for wider neighbourhood renewal. All proposed building structures have proven to have viable users after the Games. The existing harbour promenade is refurbished and a new active Olympia Boulevard bring the new life in the harbour right down to the waters edge.
