In 2020, PFA launched an innovative product for its pension fund customers, PFA Climate Plus, which allows the customers to choose to place their pension savings in extra climate-friendly investments.
From the outset, the shares in the PFA Climate Plus product will emit 60 per cent less CO2 than the global equity index. The product design enables customers to invest in fewer and greener assets whilst having the same expected risk and return as a more broad-based investment portfolio.
The goal is for PFA Climate Plus to become CO2 neutral by 2025 and become CO2 negative by removing more CO2 from the atmosphere than it emits by 2030. With more than 1.3 million PFA customers of a population in Denmark of 5.8 million, there is a significant potential for PFA Climate Plus to make a notable difference to the carbon footprint of Danish pension savers.
Through this green product option, PFA aims to prove that it is possible to combine climate ambitious investments with prudent long-term risk management.
